A Frightful Comedy of Pirates

 The action of the play is in a pirates’ cabin on the wind-swept coast of Devon.  The name of the play is derived from a wharf in London where stood a gibbet and pirates were hung upon it.  The pirates in the play are old and stiff, retired to live in easy luxury on the shore.  Meanwhile, they ply their villainous trade.

DID YOU KNOW THAT? 

Arlington High School has been a member of the North Central Association for eight consecutive years.  It has been approved for the school year 1938-1939.

 Arlington High School was the 1938 State “B” Basketball champions.  Wesley Johnson, Davis Johnson and Deane Ecklein were placed on the All-State Team. 

Arlington High School was the winner of the State One-act Play Contest.  Margaret White was chosen as All-state Actress. 

David Johnson and Lloyd Tenneboe were rated as superior in the State Music Contest in Tenor and Baritone solos, respectively. 

The following championships were won by Arlington during the 1937-1938 school year:

Seventy-two girls were enrolled in homemaking during the second year it has been offered.  Plans are being made for a third year of work for 1938-39. 

Richard Carpenter represented the Arlington High School in the State Scholastic Tests given at Vermillion.  Out of 72 representatives, he ranked 12th.
